Your best bet is Rudy
But most likely it will be some social conservative lunatic

I’m not a Republican, but if I were, I’d probably choose someone reasonably stable like Mitt Romney.
Personally, I’m hoping they go with Sarah Palin. It would be a beautiful disaster.

Proctor and Gamble. They are the party of the companies.

I don’t mean this as an “ideologically based negative comment”, but as of right now, I don’t see anyone in the GOP that has a prayer in hell of winning the presidency. And, the fact that they are looking toward someone that caused their loss last time (palin) and an old washed up leader from the past (Gingrich) as their potentials bears that out.
Romney?? No chance. The right-wing Christian base would NEVER vote for a Mormon.
Guliani?? Too many skeletons in his closet, and he proved in the last election he has NO clue how to effectively run.

Romney/Guilliani would make a good team because they’d make a good balance.

From a Democrat’s point of view, one who voted for McCain in 2008, I haven’t seen anyone who would make me vote for them. I won’t vote for Obama, but so far I just don’t know enough about anyone to say I would support them, as apposed to vote for them as a vote against Obama.
But I do like Romney. A lot in my party put him down when he was our Governor, but I think he did a far better job then Patrick has done.

I didn’t mind listening to Ron Paul, he’ll never be a candidate though because he’s not as conservative enough.
As long as it isn’t Sarah Palin.
Obama would have won if Sarah Palin had been there or not but I believe she cost the Republican party alot of votes due to her inexperience, her lack of knowledge on everything almost. The 2008 Election would have much closer run had she not been given a slot as candidate for Vice-Pres, a move which I also feel that female voters thought was patronisng.
I would never like to see her as a US president, her beliefs could be extremely dangerous and would get in the way of rational political judgement.
I think it will be Mitt Romney though and I don’t think he’d be a bad choice.
He’d certainly give Obama a run for his money I can see him being extremely popular.
I didn’t like the vicious lies and attacks by both sides in the last Election, it was propoganda non-sense and it makes people believe things are true when they aren’t. I hope that in this next election we keep it clean, talk about the issues foreign and domestic, we should judge the candidate on his policies, his intellect and his views rather than the negative spin on his competator.

The only way a that the republicans could possibly win the white house come 2012, is if they have moderate republicans running. As we have all seen, the party is in disarray, with infighting and the such. Sarah Palin definitely will not stand a chance against the incumbent president, for resigning her post as Governor was not a good choice, among other policy choices. Perhaps Bobby Jindal may stand a chance, but from what i can ascertain, no one right now really has a possibility of beating Obama, at least easily. Still, alot can happen n ~3 years.

Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty. Both are excellent with budgets and spending and would get this Country back on track to prosperity.
Michael posted: 03 Jul at 11:16 am
It is going to be tough for any Republican to beat Obama. Pres. Obama is going to have one of the largest “warchests” we’ve ever seen come 2012 and will probably outspend and outorganize any GOP challenger to the point where no Republican can effectively get a message across. That being said, if the economy still ***** and unemployment is 10% or higher the GOP might have a chance.
Sarah Palin has no chance. I almost always vote Republican but will vote for Obama over Palin in a heartbeat. The woman is totally unqualified; how she has a hold over so many people is really terrifying.
I agree with the other posters that Romney could be a good candidate, especially if the economy is still bad. But Romney flip-flopped so badly in 2008 that who knows what he really stands for? He is one of the most disingenuous politicians I have ever seen, and that is saying something. Plus I doubt a Mormon could get the GOP nod.
I might actually look to see how people like Bob McDonnell and Chris Christie do if they are elected governor of VA and NJ, respectively, in 2009. Both can appeal to moderate voters but still have strong conservative bona fides (McDonnell becuase he actually is pretty conservative but seems to be able to transcend that, and Christie as a corruption-busting US Attorney here in NJ where he is probably the most trusted public official we’ve had in a long time). If Obama could run for President after only 4 years in the Senate, than perhaps one of these 2 could make a challenge after significant careers in public service and 3 years as a governor.

They haven’t emerged yet no one is stepping up and speaking up.
Palin is a candidate because she cleaned up the republican party in her home state before she tackled the left.
She speaks her mind and regardless of the left negative press she hasn’t quit.
Romney isn’t going to get elected.
Rudy has lost his mo jo
Joe Wilson spoke up but he may have to much luggage.
Jeb Bush–the press would have a field day.
Steel doesn’t have enough steel in his back bone.
Powell endorsed Obama showing poor judgment to the right.
Obama got elected by not being Bush so the GOP will have to be someone who isn’t an Obama.
I didn’t answer your question because who ever it is going to be will have to step to the plate with real idea’s for this country not socialistic and differently constitutional in order to win the primaries, no more moderate wishy washy GOP or they will lose.

Simple If they want to make the People truly Happy Sarah Palin for President and since he was at the Glenn Beck Tea Party **** Fest on Saturday in Washington South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint for Vice President.
If Republican want to get at Obama and Liberal Leaders they need a Ticket to Challenge, it Not Bow to it.

The republicans don’t have a strong candidate at all. There are hoping for inflation, or a attack or no health care bill. It has already been talked about before, they are going to run a anti-obama campaign. So it doesn’t matter who they pick. Its not about them, it will be about Obama’s record over the past four years, I’m sure they will half truth it like they did in this past election, but hey old habits die hard.

‘Should’ doesn’t enter the picture at this point. The current GOP is a political cult; only the most right wing of the right wing candidates will get ANY support from the party’s movers and shakers. That cuts down the bench considerably. NOBODY to the left of Palin will get the GOP’s nomination. That means that only creeps, crazies, lunatics, and Jesus freaks are in the running. Even ‘conservative’ candidates don’t make the cut…you have to be a full on ‘reactionary’ wrapped in the American flag with total contempt for the need of the 95% of us that comprise the ‘working class’ to even think about running for president as a republican. I really can’t think of a single republican that’s an actual ‘moderate’ that the party would likely back. Eisenhower, Nixon and Ford were the last of the moderate/conservative republicans…fat chance of anyone like that standing up for the GOP in 2012. If I had to put money on this I’d say the next two republican candidates for president and vice-president will be some corporate **** @ss and a right wing radical Christian clergy critter. My opinion!
